Ever since the start of COVID19, the NHL has seen a flat cap which last season was set at $82,500,000.

While 18 teams managed to not exceed that amount, there unfortuantely was 14 teams who has bonus overages to account for that put them above the cap, which resulted in a penalty.

Due to those bonus overages, 14 teams will be forced to try and operate with a reduced cap next season and some of these teams will be hit hard by it.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the NHL officially informed the following 14 teams that they have exceeded the cap and will face a penalty for next season.

Vancouver: $1,250,000
Montreal: $1,132,500
St. Louis: $1,100,000
Edmonton: $896,000
Dallas: $675,000
Florida and Los Angeles: $637,500
Philadelphia: $295,000
Islanders: $245,795
Chicago: $237,500
Toronto: $212,500
Carolina: $112,500
Washington: $100,000
Colorado: $25,000

The salary cap is going up a measly $1,000,000 next season, so these 14 teams will be forced to subtract the amount of their $83,500,000 salary cap.
