As the Coyotes' future remains uncertain, potential relocation destinations are being discussed, including Houston, Salt Lake City, and Kansas City.

However, a new possibility has emerged in the form of Atlanta.

Insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that the NHL is seriously considering Alpharetta, a suburb of Atlanta, as a potential new home for the Coyotes.

However, the condition for this relocation is the construction of a suitable arena in Alpharetta.

Elliotte on NHL expansion or relocation:

There's a lot of momentum for Atlanta. The word here is if that rink can be built in Alpharetta. That is very real.

While this move would not bring back the Atlanta Thrashers, it would reintroduce NHL hockey to Georgia, a state that has experienced unsuccessful attempts with the Flames and the Thrashers in the past. The NHL sees potential in the Atlanta market.

Critics argue that instead of Alpharetta, the league should prioritize building a stadium within Atlanta itself. This approach would better connect with the diverse population of the city and align with the NHL's goal of expanding the game.
