The Boston Bruins will host the 2023 Winter Classic for the second time at Fenway Park as the Pittsburgh Penguins pay a visit on January 2nd, 2023.
One Bruins star wasn't able to suit up the last time the club hosted at Fenway against the Philadelphia Flyers back in 2010. That was Brad Marchand, who was still in his rookie season. He also spent from November to March in the AHL, playing just 20 NHL games.
Marchand, 34, and now a fan favourite, was interviewed by Liam McHugh of NHL on TNT, and he commented on getting a second chance at playing outdoors at the famous Fenway Park:
''These games are always so much fun, always so exciting, just the memories you take away from them are incredible.''
He recalled how loyal former Bruins players are to the team and the city of Boston, hoping he would be one of those legends one day:
''You look at a lot of guys that have played and had great careers in Boston. They're still kicking around, and people love seeing them around town''
Marchand reflected on one of his favourite moments as a professional athlete in the city of Boston:
''The year we won [the Stanley Cup], we went down into the [Red Sox] room, and that was really special.''
