Andrew Brunette took over as the Florida Panthers head coach last season after Joel Quenneville was relieved of his duties.

In 75 games, Brunette led the Panthers to a 51-18-6 record and a President's Trophy for the NHL's top regular-season team. The first-time head coach was also a finalist for the Jack Adams, which Darryl Sutter of the Calgary Flames won.

No matter the success the Brunette and the Panthers had, TSN's Darren Dreger has reported that he won't officially be named head coach of the club.

"Word of a coaching change i. Florida. Jack Adams finalist, Andrew Brunette is out as head coach. Paul Maurice is believed to be in the process of being hired."

It's reported that the Panthers will be hiring former Winnipeg Jets and longtime NHL bench boss Paul Maurice as their new head coach.

Maurice has been behind the bench for 1,685 NHL games, with a record of 775-681-99-130. At the age of 43, he became the youngest coach in NHL history to coach 1,000 games, reaching the milestone on November 28, 2010.
