At least one Boston Bruins prospect will be heading to Canada to compete in the 2023 World Juniors.
As Mark Divver of the New England Sports Journal and NHL.com first reported over the past few weeks, it has officially been announced that Fabian Lysell will represent Sweden at the upcoming tournament.
The tournament will run from December 26th, 2022, to January 5th, 2023, in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick. The Swedes start their tournament on opening day against Austria.
Sweden will be in Group A with Canada, Czechia, Germany and Austria, while USA, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Latvia make up Group B.
Lysell is enjoying an impressive first pro season with the Providence Bruins of the AHL. The 19-year-old has registered five goals and nine assists in 17 games but could miss up to eight games now, depending on how far Sweden goes.
