As per NHL insider Kevin Weekes, the Boston Bruins have officially hired Jim Montgomery as the new head coach of the club.

One of the supposed problems with Bruce Cassidy was how he dealt with younger players on the team, but as per Boston Hockey Now, that's absolutely not the case with Montgomery.

"Montgomery clearly has a background in dealing with younger players given his NCAA coaching resume, but that's exactly what he was known for with the Blues in helping develop Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas while also building up a vaunted Blues power play that finished 2nd in the NHL with a 27 percent success rate last season."

"He simply comes in as a good, experienced hockey coach expected to be able to win now with a veteran group and be able to shepherd along young players like Jack Studnicka, Oskar Steen, Jack Ahcan, Fabian Lysell, Mason Lohrei, Jakub Lauko, Johnny Beecher and others that are at different levels of development within the Boston Bruins organization."

Montgomery was most recently an assistant coach on Craig Berube's staff with the St. Louis Blues. He was also the head coach of the Dallas Stars from 2018 to 2019, and holds an overall record of 60-43-10.
