Bruce Cassidy calls out his team's poor performance
Before the puck even dropped it was clear that the Bruins' were going to be in for a long night. With both Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron being out of the lineup due to suspension and injury, it was always going to be an uphill battle. The Hurricanes are one of the top teams in the league and they were looking to feast on a depleted Bruins team...and that's exactly what they did.
The Hurricanes blew out the Bruins 6-0 and after the game Bruce Cassidy was clear how he felt about his team's performance.
"There wasn't much fight (in the team's game) tonight."
Cassidy also called out the other leaders in the Bruins' room as he didn't want to give them an excuse for not showing up without their star players in the lineup.
The Bruins performance showed exactly what many in the fan base have criticized all season. The days of the "Big Bad Bruins" have come to an end and this listless effort is exactly what fans have shared in their concerns when preaching for a rebuild.
Cassidy also shared that the Bruins injury woes continued as defenseman Matt Grzelcyk left the game and didn't return.
This was not a good night for the Bruins, but hopefully a trip to Ottawa will cure the Bruins woes.
