While the Boston Bruins and general manager DonSweeney are expected to look for some outside help this summer, they might get a huge boost from within.
According to the official Boston Bruins site, Sweeney expects to sign 2017 first round pick Urho Vaakanainen.
The 19 year old defenseman spent last season in the SM-liiga with the SaiPaLappeenranta and registered 11 points in 43 games while logging around 20 minutes of ice time per game.
He's been labeled as a two way defenseman who reads play well and is quick with his decision making while handling the puck. The lefty is perfect for today's style of play and Sweeney mentioned it's possible he steals a roster spot but wouldn't mind having the youngster put in some time in the AHL to get used to the North American game.
