When the Boston Bruins were eliminated from the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, general manager Don Sweeney said as much as he would like to, it's unlikely he could keep the current roster in tact.

It doesn't look like Sweeney is just going to give up on keeping it together as he's already in contract negotiations with one of his biggest UFA's.

According to Sweeney the Bruins are currently in contract talks with soon to be UFA forward RickNash.

"We're going to have follow-up conversations this week," Sweeney told the Boston Globe. "I hope to have a clear understanding as to where that necessarily ends. Rick indicated that when he came to Boston that he was excited about the opportunity, and he wants to win."

The Bruins gave up a pretty big package for Nash which included their 2018 first round draft pick, unfortunately Nash dealt with concussion issues and didn't really deliver.

"He felt badly, and certainly he is not responsible for this because he got injured," Sweeney said. "And it took away a little juice for him. He missed time down the stretch and jumping right into the playoffs."

Regardless, Sweeney believes Nash can help the Bruins moving forward. The B's GM has already confirmed he won't be bringing back Brian Gionta, Kenny Agostino and Paul Postma.

Would you like to see Nash in a Bruins uniform next season?
