NHL Insider Links The Boston Bruins To Multiple Time 30 Goal-Scorer
The New York Islanders could be sellers at the trade deadline since it's unlikely they'll compete in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.
But this could honestly be speculation, as the Islanders legitimately need to tear it down and build it back up again.
But you'd never know, because GM Lou Lamiorello is running things, and has been since the 2018-2019 season.
He's always been a tight-lipped orthodox GM, and has only seen short-term success with the Islanders organization when Barry Trotz coached the team.
Now with Patrick Roy failing to take the team to the playoffs, they could sell some pieces, like former 30-goal scorer Brock Nelson.
Nelson has been drawing interest around the league, and one of the teams is the Boston Bruins.
Friedman makes a good point here, if the Bruins are set to make a deal we're sure the team is keeping their lips shut in the hope they can score someone like Nelson.
He'd add to the center depth which is lacking in Boston, as Pavel Zacha is currently the team's makeshift 1C.
Nelson's $6 million AAV deal expires at the end of the season and could be a good rental for the Bruins if they can figure out a way to fit him underneath their cap.
Brock Nelson has been one of the team's best players and has scored 30+ goals with the Islanders over the last two seasons.
That is despite the fact, they're bereft of elite players like David Pastrnak, or Brad Marchand.
Nevertheless, we'll get to see Nelson play in the best-on-best Four Nations Face-Off and could find a deal that sends him to the Atlantic after February, we hope.
