The Boston Bruins and general manager Don Sweeney made a pretty significant step in solidifying their blueline when they signed Brandon Carlo to an extension.

However the team is still hurting from the losses of Torey Krug and Zdeno Chara last summer and now Kevan Miller has retired.

Luckily, they might have had a solution land in their lap.

While the team has been heavily linked to Oliver Ekman-Larsson, acquiring OEL would take some significant pieces going out and taking on a heavy cap hit.

Newly bought out Ryan Suter could offer them a very nice solution.

Suter still has some game left and could eat some minutes while not requiring the extended long term commitment OEL does.

That's why Bruins' insider Fluto Shinzawa believes he's near the top of the Bruins' list.

"Based on his experience and projected performance, Suter would, in all likelihood, be a better minutes-eating option in 2021-22 than Jeremy Lauzon, Jakub Zboril and Urho Vaakanainen. His skill set aligns most neatly with that of Lauzon. To this point, the 24-year-old Lauzon has yet to prove his trustworthiness in top-four high-stakes situations. He appears better positioned to be a third-pairing presence and regular penalty killer.

By targeting Suter, the Bruins could bypass the trade market and the assets required to play in this category. It would be preferable to dictate the terms of their investment, rather than, for example, trading futures and assuming the salary obligations albeit, most likely, in a reduced manner of Oliver Ekman-Larsson."

Even at 36 years old Suter played an extremely key role for the Wild during their playoff run playing over 20 minutes a game including 28 minutes during Game 7.

Do you think Suter would be a good fit for the B's?
