The Bruins and Canadiens played a tight game Saturday in Boston with the Bruins coming out on top 2-1 in overtime and after the game, Canadiens head coach Claude Julien did not hesitate to criticize the referees.
The former Bruins coach said it was a frustrating game for his team and he listed two examples where referees didn't do their job properly.
First, he questioned the ref's decision to give Sean Kuraly a two-minute penalty when he stopped Byron from firing a shot off while on a breakaway. According to Julien, his forward should have been awarded a penalty shot.
Then he went on to criticize the penalty called on Mike Reilly against Rick Nash for high sticking. Julien believes that the stick hit the Bruins' forward's shoulder and not his face and that Nash acted the whole thing out, selling the play to earn a penalty.
It will be interesting to see if the NHL will crack down on Julien as some coaches have already been fined for publicly criticizing the work of the officials.
