The Boston Bruins shocked the hockey world last week when they let captain Zdeno Chara walk to free agency.
Chara ended up signing a one year deal with the Washington Capitals and even came close to signing with the Montreal Canadiens.
The B's longtime leader said he wasn't even offered a contract by the Bruins and he had no choice to move on.
For the last couple of weeks we'd heard from some B's insiders that Boston wanted to move on from Chara and give 23 year old Jeremy Lauzon some more minutes.
Not so fast.... Bruins' general manager Don Sweeney says that isn't true.
Sweeney told reporters that the Bruins had offered Chara months ago and the captain never signed.
