Due to the several transactions completed by the Bruins today, general manager Don Sweeney and Team President Cam Neely met with the media.

One of the main topics of discussion was the extent of the injuries to forwards Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno. According to Conor Ryan of Boston.com, Sweeney didn't like the news they got:

Sweeney: No timeline for Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno's return.

'The news we got was a little discouraging.''

That uncertainty opened the door for the Bertuzzi deal.

Prior to the media coverage, Hall was placed on LTIR, while Foligno was placed on IR, both wing lower-body injuries.

As Ryan noted, being unsure of the extent of the injuries gave the team cap space to acquire Tyler Bertuzzi this morning.

Ty Anderson of 98.5 also shared that management doesn't expect either to be back before playoffs. Whether that's to be extra cautious or severe enough injuries, it gives the Bruins roster flexibility.

Positive news is that it doesn't sound like surgery is in question as of now.
