Earlier this week, Zdeno Chara signed a one-day contract with the Boston Bruins and officially announced his retirement from the NHL after 24 seasons.
'Big Zee', as he's known, was the tallest player in NHL history, and it gave him an obvious advantage. Chara used his incredible size and strength to put muscle and overpower almost everyone on the ice.
Through his rough exterior, fans sometimes forget the human side of the longtime pro. When the Bruins lost the 2013 Stanley Cup to the Chicago Blackhawks, a fan caught a pretty amazing (but sad) photo of Chara.
Disappointed after the loss, what did the B's captain do? Find out in the photo below, which was shared by a Barstool employee with the following caption:
''In honor of Chara retiring probably my favorite story I ever «broke» at Barstool: a friend sent me this pic of him crammed into a Rowdy Rooster at Canobie Lake park the morning after losing the 2013 Cup. No smile. It's raining. Saddest pic ever.''
