Not too long after the Toronto Maple Leafs were knocked out of the first round of the playoffs .... again .... Mitch Marner was car-jacked after leaving a movie with some friends.
Three masked men demanded that he give him his keys to his vehicle (Range Rover) while at gunpoint.
A few days after the incident, Mitch Marner made a post on social media talking about it:
''To all the fans, my friends and teammates, and the entire Maple Leafs organization, thank you for all your positive messages over the last few days. The overwhelming support I've felt from the Toronto community has been unbelievable.
I'd also like to thank Toronto Police Services for all their hard work in the ongoing investigation.
It was a scary situation to be in, but we're safe and doing well. Thank you all your support has meant the world to us.''
- Mitch
It doesn't look like things are all bad for Marner, though, as he was able to land a sponsorship with Land Rover and get himself a new vehicle to replace the one that was stolen.
Marner posted an ad on social media promoting Range Rover, and a few teammates and former teammates decided it was a perfect time to poke fun!
