Get to know Bruins new coach, Jim Montgomery

Jim Montgomery was signed to a three-year contract on July 1st to become the Boston Bruins new head coach.

But here's some things you may not know about the new bench boss:

Montgomery was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 30th, 1969. He was a forward during his playing days and spent 14 seasons in the NHL and AHL from 1993-2005.

Montgomery appeared in 122 NHL games for five different teams (St. Louis Blues, Montréal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars) and recorded 10 goals and 25 assists and 82 penalty minutes.

He also appeared in 451 AHL games for the Hershey Bears, Philadelphia Phantoms, Kentucky Thoroughblades, and Utah Grizzlies, amassing 165 goals, 328 assists and 674 penalty minutes.

Coaching career:

Montgomery was most previously an assistant coach for the Blues from 2020 to 2022. Before that, he served as head coach of the Dallas Stars from 2018-2020 and led the Stars to a 43-32-7 record in 2018/19.
