The entire Bruins fan base had a collective sigh of relief when it was announced that David Pastrnak had signed an eight-year, $90 million contract to stay in Boston.

Last summer and apparently even into this season, there was rumours around the league Pastrnak's future with the Bruins wasn't certain. According to Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now, that caught the attention of at least one other NHL team:

''I know of one team that definitely asked if they would ever think of trading him not just before free agency but even before the trade deadline,''an NHL executive source told Boston Hockey now on Sunday. 'That was early on in the season, before it became crystal clear this team was a wagon and on their way, but yeah people wondered and people asked. That's their jobs. Of course, the Bruins just gave an emphatic no every time.''

Not that anybody expected the Bruins to miss the playoffs this season but the reasoning was because of the doubts of the team's future.

It's still very surprising that teams asked during this season about Pastrnak's availability. Even if it was early on, the Bruins have been dominating from the very start.
