The Montreal Canadiens made somewhat of a bold move on Wednesday morning as they announced the signing of one of their prospects.

If the Canadiens' selection of Logan Mailloux at 31st overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft wasn't controversial enough, the club announced this morning that they signed the defenseman to his three-year, entry-level contract.

If you didn't know by now, Mailloux was caught up in some legal issues when he secretly took intimate photos of a woman without her consent while playing pro hockey in Sweden when the COVID pandemic. He then shared the photos with some of his teammates at the time. In response, the OHL suspended Mailloux but reinstated him just four months later. He even withdrew himself from the 2021 draft, but the Canadiens took him in the first round anyways.

Almost two years after the incident and extensive counselling/therapy, it appears that Montreal feels like the 19-year-old is ready to prove himself:
