More Bad News Hits The Nottingham Panthers Following The Adam Johnson Tragedy
In a somber yet understandable decision, the Nottingham Panthers, the EIHL team associated with the late Adam Johnson, have opted to suspend their participation for the remainder of the season.
"The Nottingham Panthers will withdraw from this season's Challenge Cup and take no further part in the competition. We'd like to express gratitude to fans for their ongoing support and will provide an update on fixtures in the coming days.
Tragically, Johnson, a former Pittsburgh Penguins player, lost his life last month due to a neck injury caused by an opponent's skate blade.
This incident has prompted a police investigation and led leagues worldwide to implement mandatory neck guard policies.
The Panthers have committed to refunding all season ticket holders within the next two weeks.
While the entire EIHL temporarily suspended operations after Johnson's passing, other teams are now prepared to resume the season.
