On this day in 1989, one of the hardest hockey hits happened during a game between the Bruins and Jets.
Turns out, it didn't involve any of the players on the ice, but a trespassing fan and one of the linesman.
As per author Mike Commito:
''On this day in 1989, linseman Ron "the Bear" Asselstine levelled a Bruins fan who climbed down onto the ice at the Garden to try to get at ref Bill McCreary. As they say, don't poke the bear.''
