The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens met in the 1978 Stanley Cup Finals in an epic battle between the two rivals. On May 21st, 44 years ago today, Stan Jonathan of the Bruins and Pierre Bouchard of the Canadiens threw down in an absolute heavyweight matchup. Boston would go on to win game four 4-3 in overtime and tie the series at 2-2 after being down 0-2 in the series.

The Montreal Canadiens would go on to win games five and six to capture their third consecutive Stanley Cup championship, which was also the 21st in franchise history.
