Cecil ''Tiny'' Thompson revolutionized the goaltending position in several ways. From helping popularize the glove save (catching the puck) to playing the puck as a goalie and becoming the first in the NHL to record an assist.

84 years ago today, Tiny set one of his many NHL records during his long professional career.

On November 20th, 1938, during his last of 11 seasons with the Boston Bruins,
writer Mike Commito shared which record Thompson set.

''On this day in 1938, Boston's Tiny Thompson became the first goaltender in NHL history to record 250 career victories.''

When Thompson left the Bruins, he had recorded 252 wins. A record that stood for 81 years until it was surpassed by Tuukka Rask. Thompson is also the Boston Bruins' all-time leader in regular-season shutouts with 74, ahead of runner-up Tuukka Rask, who has 52.
