Earlier on Thursday, the Philadelphia Flyers removed defenceman Anthony DeAngelo from the active roster.
DeAngelo shared an emotional Instagram post that his time away is due to the passing of his Grandmother, with whom he was very close. The caption read as follows:
''Jojo. Life changed forever yesterday. I was so excited to be playing home now and be so close to everyone, stopping in your house everyday messing around with you & seeds telling you crazy stories that somehow you would believe.. Now home will never feel like home again without you. I wish I could hear one of your lines one more time or get one more voicemail while my game was still going on. I'll never get over this. You know how much I loved you. I miss you so much already. I can't wait to see you again, I love you jo. 💔''
Some things are WAY bigger than hockey, and our thoughts are with the DeAngelo family during this time.
