At the start of free agency, Subban was widely considered a top-3 defenseman on the market. Unfortunately, he has painted himself into a bit of a corner, only wanting to sign a deal with a contending team and preferring a short-term deal.
Now that many teams have moved on and sought solutions elsewhere, Subban finds himself without a home next season deep into August, with training camps fast approaching. It's now looking more and more likely that Subban will have to be a little more flexibile.
According to TSN's Bruce Garrioch on a recent Senators Podcast, the Ottawa Senators were one of the interested teams, but Subban's demands didn't suit the Sens' needs.
''I think the #GoSensGo studied the option of a P.K. Subban but i don't see them signing him on a short-term deal. I won't sit here and rule out anybody, who knows, when you get to Sept 10th (and no ones signed) maybe a 1Y deal looks good.''
