During their exhibition game against the Los Angeles Kings in Quebec City, a sign was caught on camera that was made same «Take 64 or Go». The sign made reference to the words from Bruins president Cam Neely that a $64 million contract was likely offered to Swayman and his camp.
This number has not been confirmed and according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff the offer that was likely made by the Bruins was closer to $7.8 million per season over eight years.
Bruins fans have been patient as many expected this negotiation to go smooth with the Bruins trading minus all mark to the Ottawa Senators and essentially granting Swayman the keys as #1 goaltender for the Bruins. But this negotiation has been far from easy as he has felt that he has been under appreciated and undervalued by the Bruins and feels that it's time to reset the market and get the contract he wants knowing how the salary cap works.
The anger has stretched right across all parties including Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs, Bruins management and Swayman and his agent Lewis Gross. Many numbers have been thrown around the web in terms of what Swayman is looking for with six million all the way up to 10 million but many feel that he is looking for a deal closer to 9,000,000 per season.
As the clock ticks along and the season is nearly here it's likely that both parties will find a way to make a deal happen as this will begin to cost money for both the Bruins and Swayman.
