The Boston Bruins and general manager Don Sweeney have been pretty quiet over the last couple of weeks.
Sweeney got his deal done with Jake DeBrusk, but it's been radio silence since.
Yesterday we heard from Bruins' insider Joe Haggerty that Zdeno Chara is likely done in Boston and now we might have a better understanding of why.
According to Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun, the Bruins and Mike Hoffman basically have a one year deal done but the Bruins are having trouble clearing cap space.
The Bruins have $2.9million in salary cap space and from various reports Hoffman is looking for a one year $5million deal.
Brennan also points out how Hoffman is needed with both Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak expected to miss the start of the season.
Would you like to see Hoffman playing with David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk?
