Besides the likes of Patrick Kane, Bo Horvat and Jakob Chychrun, Sharks forward Timo Meier will be the most sought after player on the trade market this season.
And according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, an Eastern Conference team is currently the front runner to land the Swiss forward. As per Seravalli:
'I was told that Timo Meier of the San Jose Sharks has risen to the very top of the list as a potential trade target and fit for the Rangers.''
Several teams will be lining up for the Meier sweepstakes from now until the Trade Deadline. Like many others, the 26-year-old is on pace for a career-year with 26 goals and 20 assists through 46 games.
Meier is a great addition to any teams' top-six, that can make the move under the cap. Also considering he will be an RFA after this season and will require a qualifying offer at $10 million AAV.
