Several NHL teams were without head coaches after the 2021-22 season.
The Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Vegas Golden Knights, Winnipeg Jets, Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers were all without a head coach signed.
The Islanders promoted assistant coach Lane Lambert, the Golden Knights hired Bruce Cassidy, the Flyers hired John Tortorella and the Oilers are reportedly about to resign Jay Woodcroft.
With big names in head coach free agency still available, it appears another one may be off the board as the Dallas Stars have hired Peter DeBoer as their new head coach.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported it last night:
While TSN's Pierre LeBrun has confirmed the news and shared what DeBoer's contract may be this morning:
As the coaching dominos continue to fall, will we see the Boston Bruins be the next to hire?
