Last night was the first meeting between the Bruins and Lightning since Jack Edwards made fun of Patrick Maroon live on air about his weight.

It was also the first time that Edwards had the chance to apologize to Maroon in person, but apparently, it didn't go over as planned. News broke Thursday morning that the two spoke in the Tampa dressing room Thursday morning.

And Matt Porter of the Boston Globe shared what really happened between the two unordinary rivals.

In a 10-minute dressing-down in the Lightning's dressing room, the burly forward ripped into the longtime NESN broadcaster, who showed up at Maroon's stall after the team's morning skate at Amalie Arena.

In full view of reporters, Lightning players, and team employees, the 34-year-old Maroon told the 65-year-old Edwards how little he appreciated his comments about Maroon's weight.

The Lightning forward had every right to voice his frustration like he did and it's also respectable that Edwards apologized in person.

Porter also discussed how the entire room was drawn to the altercation.

''Edwards mostly stood and took it without interjection. The length and intensity of the one-sided conversation had the attention of most everyone in the room.''

Apparently, it even went so far that other Lightning players got a little worried they'd have to step in. Defenseman Ian Cole shared the following:

''I'm just watching to make sure Patty doesn't rip his head off.''
