The hype was real.
After putting up great performances with Harvard University and the U.S.Olympic team, the Boston Bruins signed Ryan Donato to an entry level contract and threw him right into action.
Donato made his debut on Monday night and didn't disappoint at all, scoring his first NHL goal in his first NHL game and added two assists to his tally.
"During warm-ups, it kind of felt like a dream," said Donato. "I didn't really get that warmed up because I was too focused on everything else and just kind of the whole situation."
The 21 year old was originally supposed to debut on the team's third line, however with RickNash scratched because of injury, he was bumped up to the second line.
"It was so much faster than what I've ever seen," said Donato. "But at the end of the day, it's something you can get used to. When you're playing with great players like that, it's something that will come along fast."
