New reports have emerged that the decision to fire Bruce Cassidy wasn't only Don Sweeney, but Cam Neely and some frustrated players as well.

An inside source of the Boston Bruins said that players took their concerns of the bench boss to general manager Don Sweeney. However, Sweeney was committed to keeping Cassidy has the head coach for the last year of his contract.

Frustrated, the players went over Sweeney's head to team president, Cam Neely. Neely sided with the players, and made the order to relieve Cassidy of his duties.

The 'source'' had this to say:

''Look it's no secret how tight Bruce and Don Sweeney were. From what I hear, the players' issues with Bruce fell on deaf ears with Sweeney so they took it to Neely. I've heard Neely and Cassidy didn't always see eye to eye and maybe that's all he needed to justify firing him? Who knows? But that's what it sounds like.''

If true, this is very concerning. The reports say the players were upset about how Cassidy handled some of the younger players like Jake Debrusk, and Trent Frederic.

Several insider sources were mentioned but not named in an article by Boston Hockey Now's Jimmy Murphy, titled 'are the inmates running the asylum?''

Obviously, us fans have no idea if this is true and will probably never know, but the Cassidy firing by the Boston Bruins just keeps getting worse.
