Team USA is starting to deal with some injuries as one of their top players in Matthew Tkachuk is going to miss their game today due to a lower-body injury, and they aren't taking any chances with their goaltending.

Team USA's starting goaltender Connor Hellebuyck was not on the ice this morning, and it raised some speculation, but it was later confirmed that they were going to rest him and not risk an injury in a game that will not matter to them.

Saturday night in their win over Team Canada, USA clinched their spot in the finals which will take place Thursday at TD Garden.

Instead it was reported that Jake Oettinger will be the starting goaltender for Team USA, as he was the first one off the ice following morning skate.

Jake Oettinger first off for US.

Elliotte Friedman later revealed that it was confirmed Oettinger will be the starter tonight.

Team USA announces a shocking change in goal

With USA opting to rest Hellebuyck today, and Jake Oettinger starting, there is a chance that we could see Jeremy Swayman get in the net for Team USA at some point during the game.

Team Sweden already confirmed that Linus Ullmark will be the starter today, and there could be a chance we see the two best friends go head to head as they represent their home countries.

Jeremy Swayman will dress tonight for team USA and possibly have the chance to play in front of the home crowd 👀
