The Boston Bruins made a signing of a former 1st round pick, in winger Max Jones today.

Jones will join the Boston Bruins in a bottom-six, forechecking role as he will earn a 1X$1M contract.

Jones, a 26 year old forward has spent his entire NHL career with the Anaheim Ducks.

He would be selected in the 1st round by the Ducks and unfortunately his career never played out, as was expected.

Jones has played 258 total NHL games during his 6 year career, scoring 62 points( 31 G, 31 A) and has been used in a defensive role in Anaheim.

Jones was an RFA at the end of the 2023-2024 season and the Ducks refused to qualify, making him a UFA.

Jones will add needed size and grit to the Bruins, which you could argue was lacking in many spots last season.

Many teams will continue to follow the Florida Panthers model, of adding size and playing a bruising style, which you could argue started with the Flyers and Bruins in the 70s.

With the addition the Bruins still need a top-six forward, and need desperately to sign goalie Jeremy Swayman soon.
