John Wensink played in over 400 games in the NHL, most prominently with the Boston Bruins.
He is best remembered for his time with the Bruins (and his signature afro hairstyle), where he teamed with Terry O'Reilly and Stan Jonathan as the team's enforcers.
We came across a video on Twitter shared by The Hockey Samurai (@hockey_samurai) of one of Wensink's biggest hits of his NHL career. It was a game on November 23rd, 1978, between the Boston Bruins and the Buffalo Sabres.
Sabres defenseman Larry Playfair was making his NHL debut, and Wensink welcomed him to the league by knocking him out cold on his first-ever shift with a massive hit behind the Sabres net.
The Bruins would go on to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 5-2, and Playfair would spend the rest of his career getting revenge, racking up 1,814 penalty minutes in 688 games.
