In a recent development, Topi Rönni, the Calgary Flames' promising pick from the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, has left his Finnish Liiga team, Tappara Tampere, amid very serious allegations.

According to an official statement from Tappara (translated from Finnish):

Topi Rönni, a player with the Tappara SM league team, is facing serious allegations, which are related to an incident that occurred over two years ago. Rönni, who has been forthcoming about the allegations, stated,

"Today, I have received a summons related to the matter. The past couple of years have been challenging as I awaited the progress of this case. I have confidence that the events surrounding this matter will become clear during the trial. For now, I am stepping away from the team's activities and focusing on addressing this issue."

The Helsinki District Court has yet to schedule a hearing date, and the case documents have been classified as confidential. It's worth noting that Rönni was a minor at the time of the alleged incident.

Mika Aro, CEO of Tamhockey Oy, emphasized,

"We take these allegations seriously, but we will await the court's decision and assess the player's status in due course. This also pertains to labor law."

At this stage, neither Tappara nor Rönni will provide further comments regarding the ongoing case.

The 19-year-old forward had contributed 1 goal and 2 points in 12 games for Tappara this season. Stay tuned for updates on this evolving situation.
