The US dominated the first period, scoring two quick ones before Canada answered late. The second was full of fast-paced, back and forth action, and some controversy.
After Canada took a 3-2 lead, the US tied it up at 3-3 with just over seven minutes in. Or so they thought, as the goal was called back after a lengthy - and questionable - goalie interference review.
Another instance where IIHF rules is much more strict than most hockey.
Then, in the third period with Canada now leading 4-2, the US had yet another goal reversed after a second goalie interference challenge.
The first one was a bad call and should've been a goal but the second one makes sense to call back. You can't push a goalie's pad into the net to score. Not even in the NHL.
Canada would go in to win 6-2 to advance to the Gold Medal game against Czechia tomorrow. USA will play Fabian Lysell and Team Sweden for Bronze.
