The Bruins would send top defenseman Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames prior to the NHL Draft in 2015.
Hamilton would sign a six-year $34.5 Million, $5.75 Million AAV contract in Calgary.
In return, the Bruins would receive a 2015 1st round pick, which would become Zach Senshyn and two second-round picks.
Those second-round picks would become Jeremy Lauzon, who is now a Nashville Predators and led the NHL in hits last season.
Another one of those picks became Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, who would finish his ELC in 2018-2019 and find himself split between the NHL and AHL regularly, and surprisingly in the midst of the team's Stanley Cup run Forsbacka Karlsson decided to return home to Sweden due to family reasons.
In the 2016-2017 season, Dougie Hamilton would be paired with Mark Giordano and help make the Flames more effective on the blueline, which led to a playoff run.
Zach Senyshyn's last season in the NHL was in 2021-2022 and saw him play 2 games in Ottawa, before heading to the AHL, where he last played with the Utica Comets and Chicago Wolves in 2022-2023.
All in all, the Flames won that trade, as they got three good years out of Hamilton's play, while the Bruin's own draft picks would be busts or wouldn't play in Boston later down the road.
