With the loss to the Florida Panthers last night, the Stanley Cup champions were crowned in Sunrise.

Neither Connor McDavid, or Leon Draisaitl were a part of that ceremony, as the Oilers were unable to complete the objective.

That was winning a Stanley Cup, and the Oilers have a significant sum of money tied up in both Draisaitl and McDavid.

Draisaitl unlike his fellow superstar McDavid has a cap hit under $10 Million, and has been rumored to be linked to the Bruins in the past.

As of May 3rd, it was rumored he would be interested in joining the Original Six team, according to The Hockey News.

But, with the defeat of the Oilers by the Panthers, does Draisaitl see a future in Edmonton?

And that's why, if Leon Draisaitl wants to sign with the Bruins when his Oilers contract expires, he should do so for no more than $10M per. Actually just go 8 X $8.5M. That's probably fair.

If Draisaitl does sign in Boston, here's something to consider, as McDavid's AAV is $12.5 Million, while Draisaitl who could also be considered a #1 Center elsewhere takes a team friendly deal at $8.5 Million, AAV.

Georges Laraque spoke on 91.9 FM in Montreal about Draisaitl's extension situation, "someone well placed in the organization said that if the Oilers don't go deep in the playoffs he doesn't see Draisaitl re-signing at the end of his deal."

"He'd prefer to be a first-line center in Boston."

The Bruins situation is dire, while Draisaitl was robbed of the ultimate prize.
