Boston Bruins goaltender opens up about being mistreated by management
He has experienced a whirlwind, as after his season with the Kings ended in 2024, he would in free-agency sign with the Ottawa Senators, July 1st, 2024.
The contract was a 5-year, $4 M AAV, $20 M deal and was a part of the package in the Linus Ullmark trade.
Since his arrival in Boston, he was asked about his time in Ottawa, as despite their declaration that the rebuild was over, they were underperformers.
Korpisalo says last year was hard on him, cited changes in OTT ownership and front office as tough on everyone. "We did underperform the whole year. That's that. It's behind me. Now it's time to look forward. I have a great opportunity here with Boston."
The team was in flux, in more areas than one, as the Melnyk Family sold the team to Michael Andlauer who is familiar with the game of hockey, owning the Hamilton Bulldogs, and owning shares in the Montreal Canadiens at one point.
Korpisalo obviously wasn't happy with how he was treated with a new management group, as it sounds like they weren't who he signed on with or for.
Korpisalo is looking forward to his opportunity to slot in behind Swayman and be the goalie he was in Columbus, a solid netminder and performer who earned a nod to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game prior to a knee injury.
The Senators' #1 goalie finished the 2023-2024 season with a 21-26-4 record, a 3.27 GAA, and a .890 save percentage.
