There are more than a few options that Don Sweeney could explore:
Alec Martinez has won three Stanley Cups with the Los Angeles Kings(2012, 2014) and Vegas Golden Knights(2023).
He has a proven off-season pedigree; his contract will expire during the off-season and will be a UFA. His most recent contract was $5.25 Million, AAV.
Martinez played 55 games for the Knights this season, posting 17 points( 4 G, 13 A) he could prove to be a good bottom-4 defenseman for the Bruins.
Like Martinez, Brady Skjei has a contract that expires at the end of the 2023-2024 off-season. With an exact contract value of $5.25 Million AAV, Skjei could look for a similar value depending upon his agent.
With a career year in Carolina, playing 80 games, and posting 47 points( 13 G, 34 A) Skjei could be a great offensive defenseman in the Bruins system.
TJ Brodie's $5 Million AAV contract expires at the end of the season, leaving the 33-year-old without a contract. The stay-at-home defenseman was one of the Maple Leafs' reliable defensemen and could be a solution for the B's.
Gostisbehere is an offensive-defenseman who spent his last season with the Detroit Red Wings posting 51 points in 82 games. His 2023-2024 contract, carried a cap hit of $4.125 Million AAV. 2023-2024.
Slim pickings leave Marco Scandella of the St. Louis Blues left, a defensive defenseman who could fill a bottom-pairing role for the B's. Scandella played 65 games for the Blues, posting 8 points(2 G, 6 A).
