Bruins and Ducks combine for a trade involving Trevor Zegras?
Trevor Zegras's name has been through the rumor mill when it comes to trade, continually. Several teams have been linked to the Anaheim Ducks center, for months now, but he remains a Duck even into August.
But it seems likely that Zegras will be dealt before the start of the season, or by the trade deadline.
Former NHLer, turned NHL Network Analyst, Stu Grimson says that GM Pat Verbeek doesn't consider Trevor Zegras a future building block of the Ducks organization.
"I suspect there's a really solid possibility there (for a trade) and I say that for this reason: Pat Verbeek comes over as general manager going two years back now, and he inherits a Trevor Zegras," explains Grimson. "Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Zegras fan, I think he's got great offensive upside. (BUT) I think there's a good bit of maturity to evolve where his game is concerned, as well as on the defensive side of the puck."
I don't know that, given a blank canvas, Pat Verbeek reaches out, grabs a Zegras and makes him part of the roster... A guy that could bring a really robust return by way of a trade. There's a good possibility that Zegras moves on. There's gotta be some fire where all that smoke has been emanating.
Zegras started his NHL career as a firebrand, with consecutive 23+ goal, 60 point seasons, with two seasons of highlight reel plays.
But there's other parts of his game which need work, and will need to work on, and not to mention his lackluster injury-ridden third season.
There's been several teams of note interested in the Center, could the Bruins be one of them?
He has been ripped in the past by John Tortorella for his showmanship, and ironically, the Flyers have been one of the teams mentioned in trade-talks.
