The Seattle Kraken were gearing up for a game against the Vegas Golden Knights tonight, but were also making some surprising roster changes that involved a trade.
Elliotte Friedman dropped the news that the Seattle Kraken have re-acquired forward Daniel Sprong from the Vancouver Canucks, and in return the Canucks got future considerations.
Not only did Elliotte Friedman confirm this trade, but so did Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin just moments after the trade was completed.
During the off-season Daniel Sprong signed a one-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks with a salary cap of $975,000, after playing with the Detroit Red Wings last year.
Ever since entering the league Sprong had a lot of potential being drafted 46th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Sprong first entered the league with the Pittsburgh Penguins back in 2017-18 and didn't have a breakout year until 2022-23 with the Seattle Kraken where he scored 21 goals, and had 25 assists in 66 games.
Following that year the Seattle Kraken decided to non-tender him, getting them out of a potential arbitration hearing, and Sprong would go on to sign with the Red Wings in the 2023-24 off-season.
Daniel Sprong has struggled since signing with the Vancouver Canucks only scoring one goal and three assists in nine games with the team.
If Daniel Sprong can get his game back, I personally think this would be a steal by the Seattle Kraken, he already knows their system and already had a breakout season with the Kraken.
Hopefully he can find his game once again going back to a familiar organization.
