After the New York Rangers were soundly defeated by the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals, GM Chris Drury had a mandate to shift the direction of the team.
The Rangers were out-played, out-worked by the hungry Panthers and would be defeated in 6 games.
It appears as if the team may be looking to move on from Center Mika Zibenajad to give him a fresh start.
Zibanejad has been linked to the Boston Bruins according to Lyle Richardson of the Bleacher Report.
The Bruins have been in desperate need of a #1 center ever since Patrice Bergergon retired, and Pavel Zacha isn't doing the job.
The Rangers in return may receive top Bruins prospects in Matthew Poitras and John Beecher in return.
The move of course would be painful for the Bruins and fans, as Poitras had a breakout season at 20 years old, scoring 15 points in 35 games this season.
Will Chris Drury find a third team to take on the excessive cap hit? Zibanejad has a cap hit of $8.5 Million AAV, with 6 years left on the deal.
