Russ Macias who is a writer for NYI Hockey Now, has speculated about the future of Oliver Wahlstrom in Long Island.

It looks like the team might move Wahlstrom, as they need the salary cap space. Although he did sign a new contract with the team, his importance with the Islanders has been diminished, as he was made available for trade at the end of last season.

He has struggled to find his form, after an ACL injury and has been overlooked by three-successive coaches.

With the Islanders acquiring Maxim Tsyplakov, they will need to free up cap space and Wahlstrom looks to be the odd man out.

This could offer the Bruins an affordable option on the bottom six, as Wahlstrom could get a fresh start in his home of New England.

Macias did identify the Bruins as one potential trade partner, after recently losing Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen.

Since Wahlstrom is a Massachusetts native, he would feel right at home and could get a fresh look on the Bruins power-play as well.

The Bruins could offer a trade piece in defenseman Ian Mitchell who could fill a need on right-side defense as well.

During his 5 year NHL career, he has scored 67 points( 34 G, 33 A) in 193 Games.
