On this day Matthew Tkachuk was officially traded from the Calgary Flames to the Florida Panthers.

On this day in 2022 the NHL saw one of the most lopsided trades to go down in recent history as we saw Matthew Tkachuk get traded to the Florida Panthers in return for Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a 2025 1st round pick.

On this day in 2022: Florida traded Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a 2025 1st round pick to Calgary for Matthew Tkachuk. #TimeToHunt #Flames #NHL

At the time this didn't seem like a bad deal as Jonathan Huberdeau was coming off a 115 point season where he put up 30 goals and 85 assists in just 80 games for the Florida Panthers.

But since arriving in Calgary he has struggled, only putting up 55 points in his first year with the Flames and than 52 points last year.

Whereas the Florida Panthers since trading Huberdeau and acquiring Matthew Tkachuk went on to the Stanley Cup Finals in back-to-back years, and won the Stanley Cup this year.
