The Bruins now have an asset they could fetch a good return, and it could be viewed as a major move to acquire a top-six winger with the pick.
While it's been seen as less of a return than what the Devils paid for Jacob Markstrom, the Bruins are quick to pivot to secure someone to bolster their 1st line.
It's been reported that the Carolina Hurricanes want a top-draft pick in return for 50+ point winger, Martin Necas.
Prior to the Ullmark trade, the team didn't have the assets to move to acquire Necas.
But now, they're on the top of the list to make the move, according TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
Shortly after the Hurricanes season was cut short in the NHL playoffs, Necas and his father made public his trade request. He was unhappy with his place in Carolina and wanted a fresh start.
The Bruins have been linked to Necas for quite some time now, and need reinforcements after losing Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
The 25-year-old, Necas in 2023-2024 played 77 games for the Hurricanes, scoring 53 points( 29 G, 24 A) and in 2022-2023, scored a career-high 71 points.
