A Boston Bruins insider has revealed there is a good chance this former Bruin returns next year
James Van Riemsdyk has been sitting patiently, for a call of where to go next. For him and his agent, it appears to have been an unsuccessful free agency, despite playing on a good Bruins team.
He played 71 games with the Bruins, scored 38 points( 11 G, 27 A), and proved to be a reliable bottom-six forward last season.
However, it seems he may have to take even less of a deal to make sure he gets his name out in the NHL for yet another season.
Considering the Bruins ran it back with Danton Heinen on a PTO and placed him on the top six at one point last season, it makes no sense that JVR has sat this long, as he's capable of playing on the power play as well.
Or it could be a disciplining method for older players to accept less on their next deal.
Either way, it sounds like another labor issue not addressed by the NHLPA.
But GM Don Sweeney should pull the trigger, if he intends on doing it soon.
