The Bruins training camp is less than a month away, and Don Sweeney hasn't inked Swayman. This is a cause for concern, as they shipped Linus Ullmark to Ottawa for Joonas Korpisalo earlier in the summer.
Shortly after that transaction, Swayman became an RFA and nether side are making moves to meet in the middle, as the end of August nears.
It seems likely that both parties will agree on a contract prior to the beginning of the season, but The Fourth Period's Shawn Hutcheon they're both far apart on term and money right now.
Earlier in the week Bruins President Cam Neely assured fans that a deal between the team and Swayman would happen in the future:
Swayman helped the Bruins secure a 2nd place finish in the Atlantic Division in 2023-2024 and pushed them to the 2nd round of the playoffs, had an excellent year for the team. His record was 25-10-8 with a 2.53 GAA, and an .916 save percentage.
It'll be interesting to see where Swayman decides to finish his next contract, whether he chooses to go to free-agency and get a big payday afterwards. Or will he sign long-term with the Bruins, given he is the starting goalie now. If I'm Don Sweeney I will make sure he's locked down longer than 3 to 4 years.
