Last Thursday the Boston Bruins took on the Dallas Stars, and ended up losing by a score of 5-2. This loss would be their third consectiutive loss in a row after losing to the Utah Hockey Club, Nashville Predators, and then the Dallas Stars, and a former Boston Bruins player was a big reason behind the Bruins third straight loss.
Tyler Seguin, who was drafted by the Boston Bruins played a big roll in the Dallas Stars win over the Bruins by scoring a goal and having two assists on the night. Seguin is off to a good start this year with four goals, and three assists, for seven points through his first seven games.
This trade has haunted the Bruins, and will be remembered as one of the worst to go down in franchise history. Peter Chiarelli who was the Boston Bruins general manager at the time dealt 21-year-old Seguin, forward Rich Peverley, and defenseman Ryan Button to the Stars for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Joe Morrow, and Matt Fraser.
Tyler Seguin turned out to be a star player playing in 771 NHL games for the Dallas Stars scoring 299 goals, and 674 points. None of the players the Boston Bruins traded for are still on the team, or anywhere close to Tyler Seguin's level of play.
This was a terrible trade by the Boston Bruins, and it seems to always haunt them every time they end up playing the Dallas Stars. Especially considering the Boston Bruins have a spot they need filled after losing Jake DeBrusk in the off-season.
